Many pastors have had little or no training and some are leading large churches and don't have access to Bibles and other materials in their language. You may be an experienced preacher/teacher/trainer and wish to share your experience with others. You may be just beginning on this road and would like to be paired with other more experienced volunteers as you learn. If so please 'Contact' us to discuss this further.

Fix-A-Fix is a non-ring-fenced fund which allows Mission International to provide support for projects which are emergencies or do not fall into any particular category. It may be that someone's home has been broken or damaged by storms, flooding or fire, or that a crisis has taken place for a family or an individual. Giving to fix-a-fix allows us to quickly deal with emergencies which occur in communities where insurance cover is not available.
Please consider supporting the Fix-A-Fix fund and in so doing bring help in time of trouble.

The majority of those that Mission International supports live in farming communities, however when difficulties arise they can lose everything. Truck bound for Burundi is loaded!
The truck was donated by (Graham Rennie) 3663 the well known UK food distribution company and the cost of shipping will be covered by Kevin Dixon Commercials. We are very grateful to these two transport companies for their generosity and help in this project and in raising almost £3000 at a recent Bar-B-Q near Galashiels. There were many other donors (you know who you are) too numerous to mention who have generously given to this work, however there are some who should be mentioned. One selfless lady called Paula Godfrey provided a large number of 'Lucky bags' for children in poor families, She collected and boxed them up and delivered them to the truck ready to go, a large number of kids will be excited to open their gifts around Christmas time this year we hope. A further notable donor is a group called "Tools for Self Reliance" who have provided us with a large consignment of recycled and refurbished tools which will be used in the skills centre. And finally Dundee University School of Nursing & Midwifery donated 12 PCs c/w monitors, keyboards and mice etc.
It is hoped that the truck will be shipped via Hull to Dar es Salaam in the next few weeks and will arrives a few months later in Burundi where it will be used to transport fresh & frozen food to needy communities around the country.

"A city set on a hill cannot be hid" - Matthew 5:14:
This scripture refers to the church and Jesus is telling his church that they are to be obvious like a shining light in a dark world. Even today we are experiencing some tremendous darkness and even today Jesus' call to be 'the light of the world' remains a central priority for the church. The image below shows a city, not what we might have in mind though. This is a city of refugees in Rwanda fleeing the problems in DR Congo, this 'city', a refugee camp is the overspill from another camp further north in Rwanda which has become too full and further land was needed to provide a place for these fleeing families to find refuge. I drove past this new camp in Kigeme as I returned from Cyangugu in the south to Kigali, Rwanda's capital city via the Nyungwe Forest road on Monday of this week. Frankly I was astounded at the numbers of families which have now been displaced and had to stop to take some photos from the distance. These dwellings, seen in the image below, are made like simple tents with no flooring and no amenities. The church across Rwanda has been called upon to help by providing whatever they can, however Rwanda remains a poor and very densely populated country and thus has little to spare. Rwandans of course remember when they themselves were refugees in DR Congo and Tanzania and I am sure wish to help their neighbours in whatever way they can.

Mission International partner in DR Congo (Pastor John Paul Munganga) tells me that 230 families have arrived in his church alone in Goma (DR Congo side of Rwandan border) as they flee the fighting. He asks if there is any help that we can give to help his church respond to such an influx of refugees and the many orphans associated with the fighting. Currently Mission International does not have funds to send to him, however if you are able to help we can forward funds which will help purchase simple shelters and basic supplies for these dear people. Teams news:
The Haiti team and the Burundi/Rwanda team are now home. Their service to those in need cannot really be easily measured since the spiritual significance of their time spent with those in need is unable to be measured in human terms. Our Ghana team are already preparing to go, they begin their deployment 10th August 2012. They will travel to the capital Accra and from their to Zuarungu near Bolgatanga in the north east sector of the country. They will serve amongst the Frafra people involving themselves in construction work as well as encouraging the church and the community there.
Recruiting teams for 2013: We hope to deploy a number of teams next summer in various places. Their deployments will depend on numbers and so we are now recruiting for 2013 teams to the following destinations:
- Burundi
- Ghana
- Haiti
- India
- Kenya
- Rwanda
- Uganda
