Further news items from Mission International!

Hanifa makes further progress!
News just arrived from Uganda states that hanifa, who was seriously injured in a road accident and has undergone spinal surgery, is continuing to make a recovery and there are strong hopes that she will be able to walk again.

She is very grateful to those who have supported her financially to cover the cost of the surgery and for the many prayers that have been made on her behalf.

This page will carry any further news we receive on Hanifa's condition, please continue to pray for her and to support her during this traumatic time.   We want to see her being able to walk again freely and having the freedom to live an active and enjoyable life.

Mighty Meals water project;
Bweyogerere Multi Purpose primary School near Kampala in Uganda is home to one of Mission International's
Mighty Meals programmes.   Recently after a request from the school and the generosity of Mission International's supporters we were able to send a grant for the school to install a water tank to help
them hold a supply of clean safe water during the dry season, making sure that the children's health is maintained at a time when often only polluted water is available.   The children and staff of the school send their thanks with the photo here which also shows some of the children having their food provided by Mission International's Mighty Meals programme.

If you would like to support either the Mighty Meals programme (£25 feeds a child at school for a year) or a Mission International water project then please visit our 'Make a Donation' page.

E. Lothian
'Ambassadors' at work:
The group have all made huge efforts since their beginnings way back in 2006 when
they became the first 'Ambassadors' to take up the challenge of raising funds in support of the poor.   A number of the group have visited Africa since then and this has further inspired them to serve in this way.
The East Lothian 'Ambassadors for the Poor' group have been hard at work all year long but in particular in the run up to the Burundi team in July 2011.   A number of young people from their area a re taking part in the team to Burundi and so they had a very special reason for working extra hard this time.   The picture shows one of the groups market stall table displays at a local event where they raised funds for the work of Mission International.

If you would like to set up an 'Ambassadors for the Poor' group in your locality then please get in touch with us and we can discuss some of the details.  We can provide you with helpful hints as well as some materials which might help you set up and get going.

Hanifa begins her recovery:
There is early good ne
ws coming in from Uganda to tell us that Hanifa is beginning to make a recovery after her operation.   She is of course in the early stages of recovery and as yet there is still no concrete information about her situation.   The medical staff however are positive about how the operation has gone and expect her at this stage to make good progress on her way to recovery.

Hunger in Kenya brings a challenge:
Many people are dying due to hunger in Kenya, the situation is getting worse on a daily basis.   Drought is causing crops to fail and animals to die of thirst throughout the nation.  Please consider supporting the micro-finance projects Mission International plans to set up in Kenya.  Currently pilot rice growing projects are taking place in some areas, however they require consistent water supply which requires some investment.   This one time investment will help many farmers in the locality to water their crops and bring about more effective yields, which will have the result of feeding the community more effectively.  Please consider supporting these new initiatives via our 'Make a Donation' page.

Please consider setting up an 'Ambassadors for the Poor' group in your area and raise funds for Mission International's work amongst the poor.   Groups already at work around the country are seeing great success as their fundraising efforts are turned into effective projects in the developing world.

A thank you from the Frafra (Ghana):

Recently the FILA school suffered severe damage due to unprecidented storms in the N.E region of the country.   The school roof was completely blown of and the iron sheets mangled by the storms. (see photos on earlier post below).   Mission International were able to respond to their pleas for help due to the committment of our supporters and donors.   Now the school has a completely new roof and the kids have returned to school again.

Here is a message from Pastor peter Awane of FILA.
"Dear brethren in MI, We are very grateful to you all for listening to the voice of God and coming to our aid in re-roofing the school. The money was enough for the job. Without you it would have taken a very long time or never again for these precious needy kids to be in school. In our great joy we have looked for a suitable word but found none other than"THANK YOU" God bless you and keep you for the good things you are doing for humanity around the whole world especially Africa and Ghana. Children are playing happily in their re-roofed school grounds. Thank you too for the health facility under construction, the whole community is so grateful to you for putting up this health Facility which will will soon be addressing their health issues".

Training event successful!
Mission International's teams training event took place on Saturday 4th June. Team members were given training on a wide range of subjects ranging from how to deal with a different culture and what they need to carry with them as well as how to share the Gospel with those they will serve during their deployment.   All team members, for both the Burundi and the Haiti teams, were present and began to make team relationships with those they had met for the first time.

The training was delivered by Rev. David Robertson from St Peter's Free Church in Dundee (who also kindly provided the venue for the event), Richard Woods the Haiti team leader (see pic), Gervais Nyandwi a Burundian and member of the the Rema Team (MI Partners in Burundi and hosts for this year's team), and also Hugh Henderson the Director of Mission International.

Team members expressed how much they had enjoyed and benefited from the event that they now feel more prepared for their trip and feel inspired to serve God and reach out to those their team will serve during deployment.

Hanifa in recovery!
The lady for whom we requested support recently to go through surgery after a road accident left her unable to walk, and who was sent home from hospital to die has gone through the surgery and is recovering in hospital.   Please pray that she makes a full recovery and that she is able to lead a normal life once again.

Help for accident victim!
I have received a request from Pastor Daniel in Uganda whose neighbour, a Moslem lady, was injured in a car accident 2 months ago.   She was taken to the main hospital but received poor treatment and was sent home to die.   He husband has now abandoned her and their children leaving her with no-one.

Pastor Daniel's wife went to help her neighbour since she is not able to bathe or go to the toilet, having had tubes fitted to help her relieve herself.   In the mean time the Pastor's wife got a second opinion from another hospital after a proper diagnosis via a scan that she can be helped if operated upon as soon as possible, she may be able to walk again.

Pastor Daniel and his wife with the help of many friends have raised £270 towards the cost of the operation but a further £850 pounds is required to meet the total cost of the operation.

Mission International would like to help this lady and her family by raising the funds to pay for the operation required.
Please prayerfully consider if you can contribute even a little in order that we can raise the necessary funds.

Please either visit our 'Make a Donation' web page or send cheques, made payable to Mission International, to Accident Appeal, Mission International, 25 Tait's Lane, Dundee, DD2 1DZ.

Student Sponsorship required:
Please consider contributing to the further/higher education costs of a student in the developing world.   There are many bright students who, due to the high costs of education and their position of poverty, do not have the opportunity to release their full potential.
Noah Kitipa from Kenya is one example.  He is very bright and committed to his studies and yet has no hope of completing his chosen course because of the lack of funding.   To find out more about Noah and how you can support him please visit our student sponsorship page.

There are of course many potential students which are being identified by Mission International in Africa and various other parts of the developing world who need support.   The old saying is true "...we can't help everyone everywhere but we can help somebody somewhere..."   Thank you for finding out how you can help the needy via Mission International.
