More updates from our News page!

Christians in Pakistan are in great need!
Christians in Pakistan are currently going through a very difficult period; the news coming out of Pakistan is worrying as a result of amongst other things, political unrest.   Many Christian families and communities face severe hunger and often fear brutality from opponents, who view them as second class citizens.    Fear surrounds Christian communities after the crazy actions of the Floridian pastor, who burned the Koran, resulting in some very severe actions from extremists against Christians.

Mission International supports needy children and families in Pakistan and we would like to help our friends get through this particularly tough period.

If you are able to help us support then please send your support to:

News of progress on the clinic in Ghana!

Pastor Peter Awane of FILA in Ghana has just sent these pictures of the new medical centre which is being built in N E Ghana as a result of sponsorship via Mission International.   Good progress is now being made with this project.   Pastor Peter expresses his thanks and that of the whole community in Zuarungu, Bolgatanga as they excitedly watch the speedy progress of their new facility.   Medical facilities are poor in the area and those that do exist are too expensive for the major part of the community.   Mission International's partnership with FILA intends to make affordable medical care available in this area.
The project still has a way to go before it is complete.   The building work has to be completed, the fitting out of the centre and then stocking it with necessary medicines all still have to take place.   Pastor Peter says that there are a large number of retired medical staff in the area who are willing to get involved in the initial stages to see the project off to a positive start.   if you would like to support this project please visit our Make A Donation page.

A message from Ghana!

"... Greetings from Bolgatanga from all you know. We are so thankful to God for the great morning. Children are playing happily in school, laborers are working hard on building project specifically molding blocks to finish the clinic building, l am just feeling both Spiritual and physical relief in me and l don't know what is causing that except my strong believe that it is God time, l get calls from people who wants to give their lives to Christ through my radio preaching program, some praising God for an answered prayer..... I know that your support for this ministry is making great impact in the lives of many. Thank you so much for coming into my ministry and calling. I knew God had called me and what he wanted me to do but as l told you some time ago that l almost called it a quit. But thank you so much once again....Pastor Peter Awane, FILA, Ghana.

Lots more from the News desk!

Newsletter from Mary Weeks-Millard in Rwanda:
Dear friends,
I am sorry that ir has ben a week since I arrived and I have not sent an email. We have had difficulty with internet connections.
Thank you so much for your prayers. It has been a good week. I arrived more or less on time with all my luggage intact!  Last weekend I was working with Rev. Nathan Amooti, at his church, The Blessed Mango Tree, and also at the school of which he is director, Star School.  The church is almost built. There is now enough money to put a roof on it, and I am sure Nathan will share about this when he comes to England in March. In the service there was also a thanksgiving for a new baby, and I was asked to pray for the child. I was able to give some baby clothes to th eparents which had been given to me by a friend at St. Aldhelm's.
On the Monday I was at Star School. Again, it is so encouraging to see the progress. Our Thursday Fellowship had kniteed a blanket of squares which they have been making through the winter. It was given to a lad who is an orphan from the genocide, probably late teens or early twenties, who is in senior five and paid for by a government fund. He had almost nothing, just one sheet for his bed. he was so delighted with the blanket and I was able to give some money that had been sent out with me, to buy other things he needs.
Then I spent an hour or two with the teachers of the nursery classes. This is a new venture and there are 10 children. They have almost no toys. If I get the chance  I want to try and buy some in Kigali for them. We talked about early learning etc.
Then, Tues we went to Cyangugu, a long journgey through the Nyungwe forest. We held a training session for advocates of family planning. It was OK, but the women were very poor, all on a feeding programme, and not all could read. The bishop's wife has promised to work with them. The next day we drove on to Kigeme. Here I felt the training was better. We had Mother's Union leaders from all the parishes, and they responded very well.
Next week we train in Shyogwe and Kigali Rural, (Nyamata). This weekend I will be in Kigali at the Cathedral, in th eEnglish service. Tomorrow I hope to visit the Rossingtons, AIM International missionary friends.
Thanks so much for your prayers,
With love,

Mary

Having a New Year clear out?

New Year is a great time to begin the clear out after Christmas.  The gifts we receive are often replacements and updates of older technology with new more state-of-the-art equivalents, the outdated items being consigned to the back of a drawer somewhere.   Mission International can use working yet outdated technology in the developing world.
  • Mobile phones
  • Digital cameras (1-megapixel upwards)
  • Memory Sticks/Flash drives (low volume drives are very useful 256MB upwards)

Scottish Government Cuts will affect Scottish Charities!

According to news just coming out via the 'Third Sector' magazine, Scottish charities will lose funding amounting to around £8.5 million around 24 per cent, after the Scottish Governments most recent budget.   Charities like Mission International will still however make sure that the donations made to our projects are valued at 100%.   Mission International currently does not levy any administration costs to our donations making sure that 100% of what come in from our donors goes to our projects.

Kabanda's Dad receives a wheelchair:
During October of 2010 a team from Dundee in Scotland visited Uganda, they carried with them a wheelchair which had been donated locally and this was passed on to Kabanda's dad who had been seriously hurt in a road accident.   This gift is currently his only way of getting around in hospital since the uninjured leg is a lame leg meaning that he is now unable to support his weight on either leg.
Due to the serious nature of the injuries he has sustained to his leg it has been necessary to undergo several operations which in Uganda cost a lot of money.   The cost of staying in hospital too is expensive (no NHS providing food or bandages or anything else for that matter).   Unable to go to work he does not bring in any income and relies of donations from friends and family to survive.   If you are able to contribute to this then it would be very much appreciated.   Kabanda's dad is a Moslem, however he has been really touched by the support he has already received via Mission international donors.   We pray that he will not only fully recover but also come to know the one who loves him more than any other, our Lord Jesus Christ.   Please continue to pray for him and for the whole family that they respond to the Good News!

Uganda team a triumph!

As I write this message I am sitting in the h

ome of Jez & Helen Fage and their three kids.   This family are mission

aries from a church in Swansea in Wales and

have been serving with ARMs for a couple of years.   Last night Jez t

ook me to the airport from my 10 o'clock flight with KLM bound for Amsterdam, after Helen had prepared a wonderful meal before we set off.   The flight was full and took off on time, however as the nose of the plane lifted an extremely loud rumbling crunching and groaning with a serious vibration began and continued as the plane climbed slowly over the lake.   Passengers all grabbed the seat in front of them as it was abundantly clear that there was something seriously wrong with the plane.   The crew, who did a wonderful job throughout, let us know there was a problem but they did not know what it was.  Some news came through that we had

a hit a very large bird (the size of a cow if the noise was anything to go by) and we had lost one engine as a result and so we would need to return to Entebbe,   A lot of prayers were prayed during the few nervous moments as the flight was brought safely back to earth.   Jez returned to the airport to get me and took me back to his home where I slept the night and from where I write this message not knowing when I will get home.
Mean time the team are in Rakai, they have spent a wonderful 2 weeks in Gabba, Bethany Village and visiting projects such a Mighty Meals in Bweyogerere.   In the next few days they will visit the Murchison Falls game park and Dwelling Places in Kampala.   All in all it seems like it will be a really eventful trip with all sorts of stories to tell on our return to Scotland.
